Malaysia Steel Works (KL) Bhd was awarded by Bursa Malaysia the highest score of ESG Rating

Malaysia Steel Works (KL) Bhd (“Masteel”) has received a prestigious accolade from Bursa Malaysia. On 27 December 2023, the Company was honored with the highest ESG rating of Top 25% (4 Stars) amongst all public listed companies in the FTSE Bursa Malaysia EMAS Index. In the hard-to-abate GHG sector, Masteel is setting new standards as the country’s first steel mill to achieve the highest grading in ESG Ratings among PLCs on the FBM Emas Index, assessed by FTSE Russell. Masteel achieved superior scores across all three ESG themes, surpassing both subsector and national averages. Masteel’s ultra-low CO2 emissions technologies ensure environmental sustainability while advancing the greening of Malaysia’s construction sector.

Masteel is a constituent of the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index, which identifies companies with recognized corporate responsibility practices, screened in accordance with transparent and defined ESG criteria.
